چکیده

Background and aimsApolipoprotein (apo) C1 is a 6.6 kDa protein associated with HDL VLDL. ApoC1 alters triglyceride clearance, it also favors cholesterol accumulation in HDL, especially by inhibiting CETP human plasma. Apart from studies mice, which lack CETP, the impact of apoC1 on atherosclerosis animal models expressing like humans, not known. This study aimed at determining net effect rabbits, species naturally high activity but endogenous without inhibitory potential.MethodsRabbits transgene (HuApoC1Tg) were generated displayed significant amounts plasma.ResultsAfter feeding, lesions significantly less extensive (?22%, p < 0.05) reduced ability to serve as substrates (?25%, HuApoC1Tg rabbits than WT littermates. It was rises plasma level PON-1 activity, decrease lipid oxidation markers 12(S)-HODE 8(S)HETE. In chow-fed animals, HDL-cholesterol higher animals (0.83 ± 0.11 versus 0.73 mmol/L, respectively, 0.05), lower (cholesteryl ester transfer rate, ?10%, 0.05; specific ?14%, 0.05).ConclusionsConstitutive expression fully functional transgenic rabbit attenuates atherosclerosis. found relate, least part, inhibition alterations HDL.

Influence of Abana on experimental atherogenesis in hypercholesterolemic rabbits.

An experimental, placebo-controlled study with rabbits was conducted to determine the role of Abana, an Ayurvedic preparation, on atherosclerosis. The results showed that Abana arrested the rise in TC, LDLc and VLDLc when administered along with an atherogenic diet for 60 days. In another phase of the study, when Abana was given from days 60-120 to rabbits who were made hyperlipidemic by feedin...

Recombinant apolipoprotein A-I Milano reduces intimal thickening after balloon injury in hypercholesterolemic rabbits.

BACKGROUND Several epidemiological studies have shown an inverse relation between high-density lipoprotein (HDL) cholesterol levels and coronary heart disease. Recently, observational studies have suggested a similar inverse relation between HDL and restenosis after coronary balloon angioplasty. Despite these observations, it is unclear whether this inverse relation reflects a direct vascular p...

Macrophage-specific expression of human apolipoprotein E reduces atherosclerosis in hypercholesterolemic apolipoprotein E-null mice.

apoE deficiency causes hyperlipidemia and premature atherosclerosis. To determine if macrophage-specific expression of apoE would decrease the extent of atherosclerosis, we expressed human apoE in macrophages of apoE-null mice (apoE-/-) and assessed the effect on lipid accumulation in cells of the arterial wall. Macrophage-specific expression of human apoE in normal mice was obtained by use of ...

Specific sorbent of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins for plasmapheresis. Characterization and experimental use in hypercholesterolemic rabbits.

Dextran sulfate was covalently bound to cellulose beads (LA01) and used as the specific sorbent of apolipoprotein B-containing lipoproteins. The binding profiles of very low density, low density, and high density lipoproteins to the material were consistent with simple Langmuir adsorption isotherms. Although the affinities of all lipoproteins for the sorbent were roughly similar, the surface ar...

CHOLESTEROL LOWERING EFFECT OF RHEUM RIBS IN HYPERCHOLESTEROLEMIC RABBITS

The effects of ethanolic and aqueous extracts of Rheum ribs L. (RR) of the family polygonaceae was studied on serum cholesterol concentration in rabbits. To induce hypercholesterolemia, 0.5 g/kg/day of pure cholesterol powder was given orally to each rabbit for two weeks then cholesterol was halved and each group of animals was treated with a different regimen for another two weeks. Both t...
